Free Pattern Friday ~ Made & Found Sew Along from Life in the Scrapatch

I Made & Found Block One.

This was very much a spontaneous quilty happening.

I saw an announcement for this new free sew along on my IG feed

during my morning coffee break and signed up,

found some fabric, cut and sewed.

Usually I dither when I see a new sew along.

I tell myself I do not have time,

that I have too many projects in the works,

that I have too many UFOs in my closets.

Maybe I will think about fabric.

Then  I will dither over fabric.

Maybe start to pull out a few fabrics,

soon to be ...

Rainbow Neighbourhood Houses - Blocks 2 to 4 from Quilting & Learning

I was falling behind on my Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL so I'm now all caught up.

A Mauve House

The second house was finished in the middle of last week. It was easier to make the second time around. Of course the star blocks are all different, so there is a learning curve there.

The mauve house with a blue Friendship star!

For the window details, I added a hanging planter and a bird who is visiting out of his cage. Will he go back in? I found a beautiful mosaic type fabric that looks like stained glass, so that ...

Alison Glass

In 2019, I joined in this fun:

My Trinket Sew Along 2019

My plan was rather ambitious:

 Two Quilts ~ One Stash

In addition to the daily Trinket Blocks I was sewing my

Ventana Quilt ~ Started Here

I sewed my trinket blocks and a

I was on a quilty roll at the time and I made good progress.

Then Life Happened.

Family matters required a short trip out-of-state.

Then I had some health issues.

I sewed along and did my best to get

Insignia from Liz Makes Crafts

I keep a spreadsheet of all my quilting projects so I can keep track of where they are, when I finished them, etc, but Insignia predated all that, and I have no idea how old this quilt top is! I barely remembered what it looked like, so when I pulled it out of the pile to finish it, it looked ... well, like all the colors of the rainbow dumped into a quilt. It is bright.

The pattern is Alternative by Alison Glass, and the fabric I used is a combination of Insignia (hence the name of the quilt) and some ...

Spectrum from Liz Makes Crafts

Every once in awhile, a designer creates a collection that speaks to me so much that I could not get enough of it. Observatory by Alison Glass was one of those collections for me, and when I saw Spectrum (pattern also by Alison Glass) made in Observatory, I just knew I had to make it.

This is actually a super-easy quilt, consisting of just quarter-square triangles and some strips. The fabrics and colors is what makes this quilt so special to me. Like all Alison Glass quilts, the fabrics really glow.

I decided to keep the quilting very light and ...

Ghost Blossoms from Liz Makes Crafts

It's been an absolutely crazy year, hasn't it? I knew that this quilt would be my last finish of the year, and I thought ... what should I pick? I have a wide variety of choices, from more muted palettes to explosions of rainbows. But I think a bright rainbow is what hits the spot for this time of the year.

Ghost Blossoms is designed by Tula Pink from the book Quilt with Tula and Angela, and for the fabrics I chose 16 prints from my Alison Glass stash. They don't all belong to the same line so ...

Handiwork ~ Build-A-Quilt #2 from Liz Makes Crafts

Handiwork is the 2nd colorway from the Build-A-Quilt program by Angela Walters, and unlike Urban Grid which felt a bit like a risk, I knew I loved this color palette the minute I saw it.

I mean, it's Alison Glass, how could I not love it? What did scare me a bit more than Urban Grid is that I chose a layout I've never tried before: a braid quilt.

This was definitely more challenging than the flying geese layout of Urban Grid, but I'm glad I chose it because it is definitely an interesting and beautiful design ...

Rainbow Road from Liz Makes Crafts

Rainbow Road, pattern (originally called Prism) and fabric by Alison Glass, is actually a very old quilt top lying in my stash. I've wanted to quilt it for a long time, but I kept putting it off because it is the scariest type of quilt to deal with: the negative space quilt. Negative space quilts offer infinite potential, and also infinite chances to not reach that potential.

As far back as a few years ago, I already had a story and a plan for this quilt. I imagined a futuristic steampunk city with a lot of paths criss-crossing in ...
